a PROPHECY fulfilled
PROPHECY is the debut photobook by Mikael Aldo, collecting 80 previously unreleased images made over ten years. The work began as a dream at 19, an anxious attempt to define adulthood through a body of work, but grew into something else: a long, fragile promise to keep creating through uncertainty.
The photographs span portraiture, still life, landscape, and staged scenes. Each image is a fragment pulled from the terrain of emotion: sadness, hope, fear, recovery, without a single story tying them together. Together, they form a map of growth and doubt, shaped by both carefully planned concepts and spontaneous moments across Indonesia, from Jakarta and Bandung to Mount Lawu, Belitung, Bali, and Papua.
Each copy of PROPHECY comes with a 40 x 54 cm foldout mind map, the navigational blueprint for the book.
It is available in two editions: The Layers Edition (regular) and The Core Edition (limited, signed).
The Core Edition is a release of only 50 copies, each housed in a red slipcase, accompanied by exclusive collectible stamps, and a signed 20 x 25 cm print.
At 180 pages, PROPHECY is less a conclusion than a record of an ongoing process: a search for meaning, an attempt to sit with feeling, and a quiet step forward in Aldo’s decade-long journey.
